Kusha Kapila (born 19 September 1989) is an Indian fashion editor, social media personality, comedian, actress, and YouTuber. She is from New Delhi.
Early life
She grew up in a middle-class family and attended school in both North and South Delhi. Kusha graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) with a degree in fashion design.
While in college, Kusha was involved in theater and street plays. She also had a passion for journalism and dreamed of becoming a journalist one day. However, after graduating from NIFT, Kusha decided to pursue a career in fashion.
Kusha worked as a fashion correspondent for a few years before joining iDiva, a popular women’s lifestyle website. It was at iDiva that Kusha started creating and playing the fictional character of Billi Masi, a South Delhi aunty. Billi Masi quickly became a hit with audiences, and Kusha became an internet sensation.
Kusha’s early life was shaped by her experiences growing up in Delhi. She has spoken about how her observations of the different types of people she met in the city have inspired her comedy. Kusha is also a vocal advocate for body positivity and self-acceptance.
In recent years, Kusha Kapila has expanded her career beyond social media. She has appeared in several films and television shows, including Ghost Stories, LOL: Hasse Toh Phasse, and Case Toh Banta Hai. She has also released her own book, Kusha Kapila: The Book, in which she shares her insights on life, love, and comedy.

Career
After graduation from National Institute of Fashion Technology in fashion design, she worked as a merchandising intern for Bhartiya International Limited based in Delhi for three months. Subsequently, she worked as a product design intern at Chisell Effects, in Noida. In 2013, she started working as a fashion correspondent for a Delhi-based clothing firm, Apparel Online. In May next year, she joined Razorfish Neev and started working as a copywriter.
In 2014, she made her first debut with the television show Son of Abish hosted by Abish Mathew.
In 2016, she worked for the Times Internet as a fashion editor. Later, she joined iDiva as a content writer head. While working for iDiva, she created and played the fictional character, Billi Masi, which became a major hit, making her an Internet sensation.
In 2020, she appeared in an anthology Netflix film Ghost Stories. She was also in Netflix India’s YouTube show Behensplaining.
In 2021, she performed in the Amazon Prime’s comedy reality show LOL: Hasse Toh Phasse.
In 2022, she was seen in a reality sketch comedy show Case Toh Banta Hai of Amazon MiniTV. She also featured in the Season 2 of Netflix TV series Masaba Masaba. She co-hosted the season 3 of Comicstaan. She made an appearance in Plan A Plan B. She also appeared as a part of jury on Season 7 of Koffee with Karan.
In February 2023, she appeared in Minus One: New Chapter and Selfiee. Later that year, in September, she featured in Sukhee alongside Shilpa Shetty. She also played a pivotal role in Rhea and Ekta Kapoor’s Thank You for Coming, which premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.
